When it comes to the art of packing with self-care in mind, Marlien Rentmeester knows a thing a two. Case in point: our latest conversation with the LA tastemaker, where she walked us through the ins and outs of her travel body care routine—and so much more.

What are three beauty items you always have in your carry-on?
Oak Essentials Moisture Rich Balm, Olivia Chantecaille Full Brow Tint, YSE Beauty Overachiever Under-Eye pads.
Once you’ve arrived at your destination, do you have any non-negotiable beauty rituals?
Shower and moisturize!
What does self-care look like when you're traveling?
Going to bed early, exercising in the morning, drinking lots of water, and walking everywhere. Also, staying on track with all my vitamins and supplements.
What do you love most about fall beauty?
Tucking my messy, air-dried hair into a turtleneck!
How does your fall routine compare to other seasons?
I feel like I need to compensate for summer’s intrinsic glow, so I treat myself to more facials, pre-bedtime masks and time in the sauna.
How has your approach to beauty changed throughout the years?
I've long prided myself on being a minimalist. I have always tried to get away with as little makeup, lotions, and potions as possible, but it’s come to the point that my minimalist ways are starting to feel more like neglect! In order to keep up my appearance, I am finding it necessary to do more—more moisturizing, more exfoliating, more serums, more facials, more makeup, more taking care. So, I am learning and experimenting along the way with what works for my skin and what I want for my skin—dewy, hydrated, firm skin with less dark spots, with the help of only clean products.

Rapid Fire with Marlien

Your first beauty memory: (Over) Spritzing my mother’s Chloe Eau de Toilette all over my body.

Three desert-island skincare staples:  Facial moisturizer x 3!

Most underrated beauty tip or tool:  Eyebrow brush.

Beauty minimalist or maximalist: Minimalist.

Current song you’re playing on repeat: Pai de la Luce.

One thing you'd tell your 20-year-old self: This too shall pass.
