Today, we’re in conversation with Cyd Morris, the creative force behind Stone Cold Fox, a mother of two, and a self-proclaimed beauty guinea pig. Cyd does it all—but when it comes to beauty, she proves that less really is more in the name of staying radiant and balanced in every season of life. Read on for how motherhood has influenced her self-care rituals, the lessons she imparts to her children, and the essentials she never leaves home without.

How has motherhood changed your approach to beauty?
The funny thing is, when you have kids, you have things everywhere–toys, gadgets, products, everything. Having kids made me want to simplify my own life. I wear classic, less fussy clothes and edit down my beauty routine. Less is more in my world. The clutter stresses me out, so I try to have a handful of quality essentials. As time is fleeting with my kids, I have learned to be quite quick with my routine—unless I’m hiding in the shower. Now that I have a daughter, it is important to me to be natural and authentic to serve as an example as she gets older.
What self-care lessons do you want to impart to your kids?
Definitely confidence. I lacked that as a kid, but since my kids are still young I try to build their confidence daily. I also make bath time extra fun and turn oatmeal baths into “potion-volcano” baths with a coconut oil party after for hydration. Sunscreen is a must, and we have a “no-hat, no-play” rule when outside. Being clean, and taking care of our skin, and getting outside when we have had a rough day starts from day one.
In this season of life, what makes you feel the most beautiful?
After a hot summer’s day swimming in the ocean, feeling sun-kissed and salty. I love how I feel warm and tight-skinned when I get home. I love to shower and throw on an airy white dress. I also love getting dressed for a night out with my girlfriends. I feel really special when I put on a red lip or a nicer shoe than my day-to-day, especially in this season of life.
Tell us about your typical morning routine.
I try to wake up before my little ones to have a moment alone and check my emails. I make a handwritten list of my to-do’s–there’s something so nice about crossing them off throughout the day. And then I start picking up the house when I wake. I’m also a morning shower kind of person. I love to use a body scrub and oil to start my day while I drink a raw milk cappuccino. I try to squeeze in 45 minutes of weights or pilates after everyone is off to school. I use lots of serums and moisturizers, followed by a tinted SPF. I never leave the house without a good lip color and cheek highlighter.
Do you have any non-negotiable beauty rituals while traveling?
I love to tint and curl my lashes before I travel so I can get up and go easily. I always bring sunscreen and pack only my top five beauty basics—but I do bring 100 lipstick colors. I love a bare clean face with a lip.
What's your version of an 'everything shower'?
Using a Malibu packet on my blonde and leaving it in for 5 minutes followed by a long moisturizing hair mask. While doing that I sit on the bottom of the hot shower and slowly shave my legs. I follow with a good body scrub using a hand mit in every area, brush my teeth in the shower (nothing better), and then apply oil on my whole body. Door is closed, jazz is playing, a candle is lit….nowhere to be.
How do you take care of your skin in the summer?
My skin is best in the summer. Saltwater from the ocean and a little tan just does wonders. All the vitamin D makes anyone feel a little happier but I never step outside without a hat on. I use more scrubs in the summer since my SPF usage increases and eventually clogs my pores. Plus, extra moisturizer and under-eye balms. I also love hair masks at the beach in the summer with a slick back since all the sun and swimming dries out my hair.

Your first beauty memory: The scent of Gardenia from Jo Malone. My grandma used to wear it.

Three desert-island skincare staples: Alastin tinted SPF, U-Beauty Super Hydrator, and a Business and Pleasure Co Umbrella to sit under.

Most underrated beauty tip or tool: Red Light mask, Ibiza hair brush and applying sunscreen on your eyelids.

Beauty minimalist or maximalist: I never wear a lot of makeup, but I sure love a Hydrofacial regularly.

Current song you’re playing on repeat: Too Much by Lou Doillon.
