Do you have any travel plans this summer?
It’s been a work-heavy summer for both my husband and me, with our schedules packed and little time to catch our breath, so we haven’t planned any big getaways. That said, we’re making it a priority to carve out a week in August to take the kids somewhere special. Even when life feels nonstop, it’s important to hit pause, create space for each other, and make those lasting family memories. The to-do list will always be there, but these moments with our kids won’t.
What’s your approach to self-care while traveling?
I’ve learned that sticking to a few non-negotiables, like staying hydrated, getting good sleep, and keeping up with skincare makes a big difference. I always pack the essentials that make me feel like myself. Travel can throw off your routine, but I’ve found that just a little consistency goes a long way in helping me stay balanced and present.
Are you more of a packing minimalist or maximalist?
I’d say I’m somewhere in the middle, but I definitely lean toward packing whatever I need to feel comfortable and settled. I like to recreate a little sense of home wherever I go, so I’m not shy about bringing those extra things that make a difference. Feeling at ease helps me enjoy the experience away more, so I never stress about overpacking if it means I’ll feel good while I’m away.
As a founder, what’s one lesson you always come back to?
Trust your gut and take the risk. When I was first launching Anablue, there were a million reasons to second guess myself, but deep down, I knew what I wanted to create and why it mattered. That instinct has guided me on so many of my biggest decisions, not just in business but in life. It’s not always the easiest path, and there’s definitely fear involved, but I’ve learned that trusting myself is the most important. Really listening to that inner voice has never steered me wrong. At the end of the day, no one knows your vision better than you. I would also recommend finding a mentor you trust. Having someone in your corner for honest advice and perspective can be very helpful.
Is summer a time for you to slow down—or do it all?
Summer used to feel slower, but with kids, there’s really no such thing as downtime anymore. Every season feels full in its own way and I’ve just learned to move with it instead of against it. It’s a different kind of busy now, one that’s centered around family and trying to soak up the little moments in between the chaos. I’ve stopped chasing balance and started focusing on presence, which has made all the difference.
